W.I.A. egg hunt

The Wellston Improvement Association held its annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday for area children and toddlers through sixth graders. Winners in the four groups were: Toddlers/Kindergarteners – Jeffery Bitnais and Candy Teipel; first/second grade – Renee Malama and Timmy Russell; third/fourth grade – Keith Deane and Donnie Olk; fifth/sixth grade – Bill Reamer and Paula Webber.


Fund drive for Winter Sports

A concentrated fund drive to finance the expansion and improvement of the Manistee Winter Sports Area in the Udell Hills will begin Monday. The goals are $10,000. Named as general chairman of the fund drive was Paul Behm who stated that the campaign will end on May 10. Organized a year ago, the Manistee Winter Sports Club, Inc. is a non-profit corporation formed to build up the Udell Hills Ski Area into a prosperous winter sports paradise.


Food dealers to meet

A group meeting of all retail grocers and meat dealers in the county has been called for Friday night at 8 o’clock. At the gathering, which will be held in the city council chambers, final plans will be made for the state convention of the Michigan Retail Grocers’ and Meat Dealers’ Association to be held in May.

Cottage list

Persons in Manistee County having cottages to rent this summer are urged to list them at once with the local Board of Commerce. The cottage list will be prepared earlier than usual this year.
