Children’s chorus to perform on Saturday

ARCADIA — The Manistee Benzie Area Children’s Chorus will present a concert at Trinity Lutheran Church of Arcadia this week.

At 7 p.m. on Saturday, 40 children from Manistee and Benzie counties will perform works by Brahms, Rutter, Swann and Sleeth, and will present memorized poetry and four folk songs accompanied by The Nephews.

The chorus is celebrating 10 years of opportunities for local children.

The Nephews — Tim and Byron Joseph — have shared folk music with the chorus for several years. Joy Smith directs the choir, and Rosemary Abbett is the accompanist. The administrator is Kristine Harvey.

The chorus is sponsored by the Spirit of the Woods Music Association and made possible, in part, by the Arcadia Lions Club, Trinity Lutheran Church of Arcadia, Camp Arcadia and the Superior Street Fund in memory of Donald and Elsie Carmody of the Manistee County Community Foundation.

There is an admission cost, and tickets will be available at the door. For more information contract Smith at (231) 398-9427.
