Youth group to host parking lot sale

MANISTEE — The Trinity Lutheran Youth Group will host a parking lot sale on May 31 to help fund its trip to an annual youth conference on Mackinac Island in June.

The sale will be held in the Trinity Lutheran Church parking lot, located on the corner of Fifth and Oak streets in Manistee. Participants must rent one or more parking spaces from the youth group. There is also an option to rent tables.

“This is still your yard sale,” said Matthew Phillips. “You set up your own stuff, you sell your own stuff (and) you keep your sales money.”

Advertising and promotion of the sale will be handled by the youth group – participants need only to show up with their goods. The group will also host a concession stand during the sale, which will provide breakfast, lunch and snacks.

“By having a parking lot full of people selling their goods, a large number of buyers from the community is expected,” Phillips said. “Sellers must haul the leftovers home – or drop off at Goodwill on your way home.”

Pre-registration and payments for spaces and tables are due by May 23, and be dropped off in the parking lot box in the church office or mailed to 511 Birchwood Drive, Manistee. Forms can be picked up from the church office, or by emailing Phillips at mphillips@manistee.org.

All proceeds will benefit the group’s trip to the Michigan District Youth Gathering this summer. This is one of many fundraisers, which have included an Easter breakfast, bake sales and blood drives. Another event will be held in early June.
