Good morning, Manistee! I hope you have enjoyed the beautiful spring weather this week.

We had a very busy week at the Manistee Senior Center.

On Saturday, we hosted our Spring Chicks Crafts Sale. I didn’t quite realize until they started setting out their work how many talented people have been hiding in plain view at the senior center.

At the crafts sale, we had everything from beautiful knitted blankets and baby booties to handmade scarves, purses and dish cloths. There also were wonderful baked goods and lovely glass art. I hope everyone who participated enjoyed themselves and that patrons took home something beautiful.

On Wednesday, we celebrated May birthdays. Oleson’s Food Store donates a large sheet cake every month for our celebration. Thank you, Oleson’s; for all that you do for us at the senior center.

We had a great Fun Bingo on Wednesday with lots of help from volunteers; thank you, to all those who give us a hand.

At lunch, Judy and Kendra, occupational therapists from West Shore Medical Center, did a presentation on assistive aids and the services available in occupational therapy through West Shore. Thank you, we really appreciate all of the helpful information.

On Friday, we had our monthly Senior Food Bank. What a great crowd! I feel very blessed to help seniors with this service. Remember, if you are 60 or older and you feel you could use some extra groceries, MCCOA has a food bank on the third Friday of each month. For more information, call (231) 723-6477.

We have our senior center potluck at 1 p.m. Sunday. Please bring a dish to pass and join us for some great food, fun and fellowship.

We also have Toe Tapping Tuesday this week with Don Pelarski & Friends. Come and join the great music and dancing.

Fun Bingo will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, and V-E Day (Veteran’s Exchange) will be at 1 p.m.

I am sure you can find something fun to do if you stop by the senior center this week!

Don’t forget, we have another Mystery Trip on May 29. It is sure to be a fun day. If you are interested in trying something new, call to reserve a seat.

I need to wish someone very special a very happy birthday. My husband of 28 years turns another year older today, and I want to tell him “thank you” for always supporting me and helping me with anything and everything. Happy Birthday, Tony! I love you very much.

TOE TAPPING TUESDAY

Don Pelarski & Friends will visit the senior center at 11 a.m. on Tuesday to play old-time favorites. The music is free and available to all visitors to the senior center. Come and enjoy the music!
