BENZONIA – Benzie Area Christian Neighbors (BACN) is calling all friends and neighbors to bring a smile and join the staff, board and volunteers of BACN to pose for the annual sparks photo.

The event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on June 19, on the front lawn at 2804 Benzie Highway in Benzonia. This will officially ignite the 2014 BACN Summer Match Campaign.

Visitors will be encouraged to have a hot dog, tour both wings of the building and pose for a big group photo.

“It has been a long winter and the picnic has become our official start to the summer,” said Gerri VanAntwerp, BACN executive director. “On the lawn will be a giant match stick that will mark the progress of our campaign. Everyone is invited to be part of the group photo and then come inside to see the rest of the story. Most visitors are surprised at the scope of what we do here; the partnerships, the education services and the efficiency of operations. New this year will be a chance to tour the front half of the BACN building. Currently unoccupied, it represents a number of challenges and opportunities to further BACN’s mission. Come see for yourself.”

BACN will look for donations help with education, food and warmth for local families in the coming winter.

“One hundred percent of board and staff have already gifted or pledged their support to the summer match,” said David Abeel, director of development. “Now we need to hear from the rest of the community, everyone who appreciates the great work our volunteers are doing every day, year round. All donations made by Aug. 31, up to $45,000 will be matched dollar for dollar. All gifts, even the smallest, are doubly important.”

Checks should be made out to BACN at PO Box 93, Benzonia, MI 49616, or online via PayPal at benziebacn.org.
