POLICE BLOTTER: Two domestic violence instances reported on Monday

MANISTEE COUNTY — The Manistee Police Department responded to the following calls May 30 through Monday. All calls might not be reported.

May 29

• A 26-year-old Manistee man was ticketed for driving without insurance and with an expired registration at 8:25 p.m. at the intersection of River and Oak streets.

May 30

• At 1:15 p.m., a 24-year-old Manistee man was arrested for a probation violation at probation offices at 415 Third St., after admitting to smoking marijuana.

• Mason jars containing marijuana were found in dumpsters behind Fab Lite Inc., located at 330 Washington St. It was unknown whether the jars were from company employees or others.

Sunday

• A dog was found tied to a tree at 12:41 p.m. on Hastings Street near Fourth Avenue. After several unsuccessful attempts to contact the owner, the dog was transported to Homeward Bound Animal Shelter, and shelter staff were given the owner’s contact information.

Monday

• A Samsung phone was found at 11:30 a.m. on the Manistee Riverwalk.

• At 3:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Ninth Street for a domestic assault in a vehicle in progress. Upon arrival, a 25-year-old Manistee man approached officers and told them he was going to jail. After interviewing the suspect and victim, the man was arrested and lodged at the Manistee County Jail.

• A 53-year-old Manistee man was arrested for domestic violence at 6:17 p.m. in the parking lot of Peebles on U.S. 31. During the arrest, officers found several pills in a mint container, and the pills were taken as evidence.

• Officers investigated a suspicious situation at 7:15 p.m. after an 11-year-old Manistee male wrote a concerning email to classmates.
