ONEKAMA — Onekama’s Portage Lake Association will kick off its summer Concert in the Park series at 7 p.m. on Monday with Pico and Chown, featuring the sounds of Miriam Pico and David Chown, two Traverse City musicians.

At 7 p.m. on each Monday through Aug. 18, the concerts are held in Onekama’s Village Park on the north shore of Portage Lake on M-22.

Fans of vintage vocal styles like those of Ella Fitzgerald or Norah Jones will fall in love with Pico’s renditions, while David Chown plays the classics on piano sending audiences back to an age of glittering ballrooms, tailcoat tuxedos and flowing champagne.

Pico and Chown have been dazzling audiences together since 2007. They have recently performed at the Truman White House in Key West, Fla., and at the prestigious Sanfilippo Estate concert series near Chicago in June 2013.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket, lawn chairs, picnic items and the family to the evening of music.
