New fence for Old Stronach

A new fence is being placed in the Old Stronach Cemetery after the Stronach Township Board agreed to invest $5,177 in the project. The cemetery is the oldest in the area and has historical significance since some of the early settlers are buried there.

County Fair opens Tuesday

The Manistee County Fair’s entry days are August 28 and 29 from 1 to 6 p.m. The Fair will run through Monday, Sept. 2. Crown Amusements is the carnival this year and the all­day, all-night ride ticket bargain of $1.50 is offered as it has been for several years past.

80 YEARS AGO

City opposed to deep trap nets

The city commission at its meeting last night went on record as being opposed to the continued use of deep trap nets in Lake Michigan waters, concurring in a resolution passed by the Board of Commerce and deciding to send a copy of its official action to Lansing.

Opening office

Dr. John J. Jurkoski announced today the opening of an office for the practice of general dentistry on the third floor of the Aarons Building.
