MAI welcomes new artists

MANISTEE — As the 2014 summer progresses, the Manistee Art Institute will welcome several new artists today as part of its ongoing 3 Artists + series.

Works by Jack Adams, Joan Alflen, Eileen Hawkins and Melissa Ketz will be on display through Thursday.

Adams has been well received in all of the shows he has participated in and is sure to please the viewers at this show, said MAI board president Kerry Schubach. Alflen will present sculpture and painting pieces, and possibly more works.

Hawkins plays music, writes, paints and does photography just to list a few of her accomplishments. Ketz has been working on several new designs that will complete the exhibit.

The show is on for one week only to give space to three more artists before the end of summer.

A reception is planned for 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Other hours for viewing are 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday through Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday. The exhibit is closed on Monday.
