SHERIFF’S BLOTTER: Gun found at Tippy Dam Campground returned to Indiana man

MANISTEE COUNTY – The Manistee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls between Oct. 6 and Oct. 10. All calls might not be reported.

Oct. 6

•     At 4 p.m., a 74-year-old Onekama woman reported seeing scratches on her 2009 gray Honda Accord’s passenger front door. The left front tire’s air pressure was reportedly low as well. A new tire had to be purchased.

Oct. 7

•     A loaded .38 semi-automatic Smith and Wesson handgun was found at the Tippy Dam DNR Campground at 10:59 p.m. The black handgun, found by a 48-year-old Cadillac man, contained three magazine rounds and one bullet in the chamber. It was not found to be registered in the State of Michigan’s registry as there was no serial number registered to the gun. It was later returned to a 74-year-old Dillsboro, Ind. man.

Oct. 9

•     An outstanding arrest warrant was issued for a 40-year-old female from Manistee at 7 a.m. on a charge of obstructing justice for a failure to appear in court at the 85th District Courthouse of Michigan in Benzie County. She is ordered to pay a $660 cash bond.
