Mobile home blaze

A mobile home on Erickson Road owned by a Bear Lake woman was a total loss from fire that apparently started through the fuel oil furnace Thursday morning. The Bear Lake Fire Department was called about 10 p.m. at night and returned about an hour later.

60 YEARS AGO

Young cyclist injured by car

A 13 year old youth, riding a bicycle on M-55 about .4 of a mile east of US-31, was struck by a car and suffered severe hip lacerations at 7:15 p.m. yesterday, state police reported today. The boy was taken to Mercy-Community hospital and treated for severe lacerations to his left hip.

80 YEARS AGO

Musselwhite lauds record

Lauding the Roosevelt administration and pointing with pride and satisfaction to the record of the 73rd Congress, of which he was a member, Congressman Harry W. Musselwhite last night addressed a crowded hall at Parkdale in Manistee Township No. 1. Other speakers placed their stamp of approval on the accomplishments of the administration included Probate Judge Charles J. Dovel and Mrs. John L. Sweetnam.
