Grand Traverse Academy hosts robotics competition

TRAVERSE CITY — Forty-two middle and high school VEX Robotics teams will face off at Grand Traverse Academy for the region’s qualifying competition.

Students from Traverse City, Grawn, Alpena and Grandville will compete at the Walmart Northwest Michigan VEX Robotics Qualifier on Saturday for a chance to participate in the state championship in East Lansing.

Students designed, built and programmed robots and will test their skills before the judges in a series of robot challenges.

Doors open at 8 a.m. with an opening ceremony at 9:15 a.m. Qualification rounds kick off at 9:30 a.m.
