SHARI WILD: Thompson is ‘committed to justice’

TO THE EDITOR:

I am writing to express my enthusiastic and unqualified support for David Thompson to be our next 19th Circuit Court Judge.

David is strongly committed to justice and to our community. I had the privilege of serving as chairman of the county board of commissioners for 10 years, and it was during that time that David was appointed as assistant prosecuting attorney. His knowledge of the law, his skill, integrity and judgment earned him unequaled respect and support. He also demonstrated the moral courage in the face of opposition. He worked to put serious felons behind bars and fought to keep our community safe.

David currently serves as the 19th Circuit Court Family Services director and 85th District Court magistrate for Manistee and Benzie counties. His professional background as an attorney referee has given him over five years of experience handling hundreds of cases annually in the 19th Circuit Court Family Division.

In this position he has demonstrated fairness, integrity and wisdom. He has also managed the administrative and budgeting functions making sure that the programs and funds of each county are administered accurately and with accountability striving to be a good fiscal steward of public funds.

David’s entire career has been spent in public service. He is honest and fair, thoughtful and just, ethical and wise.

As the election is drawing near, I would ask that you read endorsements that he has received, and when casting your vote for circuit court judge do not allow all of this experience to be for naught. David Thompson has an unwavering respect for justice and responsive compassion and is exceptionally qualified to be our next 19th Circuit Court judge.
