Cruise ship to drop anchor here

The American Canadian Caribbean Line will once again cruise into Manistee’s harbor this summer, brining travelers from all over the United States to visit the Victorian Port City. The will be the second year a cruise ship has made a stop here as part of the company’s Great Lakes summer cruises which Chamber of Commerce officials feel is a great boost for the tourism industry.

Honor athletes

A large turn-out welcomed the officers of the Bear Lake Athletic Boosters last Thursday night. The final die was cast for the Bear Lake High School Athletic Banquet being held on May 16 at the school. Dr. Franklin Wade, a Bear Lake grad, will address the athletes.

60 YEARS AGO

Car-truck mishap

A 4:05 p.m., a mishap occurred at Cypress and Filer sts., city police reported today. A truck tanker driven by Roy James Faber stopped for the sign at Cypress and Filer sts. and then proceeded to cross Cypress. He failed to notice a car going south on Cypress St. driven by Robert L. Severson and a collision resulted. The right rear of the car and the right headlight of the truck received minor damage.
