Red Cross hosts Giving Day on June 2

TRAVERSE CITY — For the American Red Cross Giving Day, the organization is asking Northern Michigan residents to make a donation on June 2 to help the organization ensure that help is available wherever and whenever people need it.

“Each day, the American Red Cross provides support, comfort and hope to people when they need it the most,” said Kimberly Burton, CEO of the Red Cross’ Michigan region, in a press release. “Giving Day is when we come together as a community and turn compassion into action.”

Giving Day is a 24-hour national fundraising campaign supporting the work of the Red Cross in communities across the country each and every day.

The theme of Giving Day is “All In One Day” because the Red Cross is “all in” every day, helping people to get back on their feet, according to the release.

“On June 2, we have 24 hours to come together as a community and show our support for those who need a helping hand,” said Chuck Weitschat, executive director of the American Red Cross of Northern Michigan. “On this one day, please donate to the Red Cross so we can be there to help people in need.”
