Mini sports provide big fun

MANISTEE — More than 20 children took part in a plethora of mini sports at the Manistee Library on Thursday.

Children smiled, laughed and got a little competitive while playing mini versions of hockey, soccer, tennis, javelin, basketball and more during the Sports Heroes Challenge, part of the Manistee County Library’s summer reading club.

To fit the Olympic-sized sports in the program room, they were scaled down. The javelin was made out of a straw. Tennis rackets were fly swatters, and the ball was a balloon.

The program was held in five locations of the countywide library system throughout the week.
