Public hearing The Manistee City Council will be holding a public hearing on the Industrial Development District for the A.D. Joslin Manufacturing Company prior to the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening. Joslin Manufacturing anticipates the construction of an addition to their manufacturing facility on Arthur Street.

New shop at Kaleva

The Cupboard, a unique new gift and craft gallery in Kaleva, opened its doors in time for last weekend’s Diamond Jubilee festivities and will continue to be open on Saturday mornings for the next several weeks. The shop is stocking hand-crafted items made by artisans in the Kaleva area and offers a wide variety of decorator and boutique items, toys, paintings, jewelry, yarn, fabric goods, and Christmas decorations.

80 YEARS AGO

May spend $6,000 here

Possibility that the Manistee Blacker Airport may be improved by the expenditure of about $6,300 under the forthcoming federal works program was revealed by City Manager Otto Damrow at the regular meeting of the city commission last night. He said he had received word from Major Floyd Evans of the state board of aeronautics that the appropriation may be forthcoming in the near future.

Weather uncertain

The weatherman was none too encouraging today regarding conditions due tomorrow for Manistee’s Fourth of July Homecoming and Forest Festival celebration. Today’s weather forecast was for unsettled conditions today and tomorrow with scattered showers. The weather will be warmer tomorrow.
