Road improvements could begin

Improvements to Nine Mile Road could begin this fall following a compromise between the Manistee County Road Commission and property owners. A new plan that puts soft curves in the road will save some, but not all, of the trees on property owned by Roger and Susan Smith.

Rengo’s offer building

Rengo Brothers’ old office building in Kaleva is being renovated for use by Senior Citizens of the area. The building, which has been donated by Rengo Brothers, may be put to many uses by area Senior Citizens. One program in particular will be a low cost meal served five days per week.

80 YEARS AGO

No word on barracks

Sergeant Colburn Munger of the local state police detachment said today he had received no further work concerning proposed construction of a new state police post in Manistee. Plans for the expansion of the state police system have been broached in Lansing, but as yet no mention of improvements in present posts has been made.
