ONEKAMA — The final concert of this summer’s PLA Concert in the Park lineup will feature The Accidentals.

The event is set for 7 p.m. on Monday in Onekama’s Village Park.

Two girls, three years, two albums, two movies scored, 13 instruments, 50 original songs, 700 live shows, thousands of fans … just graduated high school! That is the story of Katie Larson and Savannah Buist, of The Accidentals.

In 2014 they added multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, Michael Dause on percussion.

They met in 2011 at their public high school. Katie,15, was a freshman cello player, “playing up” in the Philharmonic Orchestra and Savannah, 16, was concert master, violinist. They volunteered for a class assignment that threw them together for their first rehearsal and The Accidentals were born.

Growing up in musical families with professional pianists for fathers and vocalist for mothers, their influences bounced between classical, jazz, bluegrass, country, alt-rock and the obscure.

In addition to playing guitar, bass, glockenspiel, mandolin, banjo, piano, organ, accordian, and kazoo one can’t miss the edgy violin and cello that defines this duo.

Bring blankets, lawn chairs, picnic baskets, children and friends to Onekama’s Park on the shores of Portage Lake, on M-22. The concert is free and open to the public, and the PLA Bucketeers will welcome your contributions, which will help support future concerts.

In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Onekama Community Schools cafetorium.
