Hercules C-130

The Hercules C-130 aircraft piloted by Manistee native Lt. Col. Max Della Pia visited Manistee’s Blacker Airport over the weekend. Tours of the aircraft and a baseball game between the C-130 crew and the Salt City Baseball Team were part of the many activities for the Victorian Port City Festival.

Olson elected on Road Commission

From seven candidates seeking the office of County Road Commissioner (caused by the resignation of Elton Dinger of Copemish) Tom Olson, a former County Commissoner was elected this past week. Olson received seven votes to Hugh Blocher’s four votes, winning him the seat of Road Commissioner.

80 YEARS AGO

Light frost Tuesday night

Although Manistee County farmers report a light frost Tuesday morning no estimate is possible on the amount of damage inflicted, according to Wayne Crampton, county agricultural agent. If any damage were done, potatoes, corn and beans would be the first to suffer he said.

Musicians play for Rotarians

An unusually delightful program was heard by the Rotarians at their meeting last evening when Fred Read brought a group of Ludington’s High School musicians to entertain.
