The Ramsdell Theatre in Manistee kicks off its fall season of New York Metropolitan Opera broadcasts Saturday with a broadcast of Verdi’s “Il Trovatore”.

From 12:55-3 p.m., experience a story of love and sacrifice as different characters such as the Verdi heroine Leonora; the tenor Yonghoon Lee who sings the ill-fated Manrico; his rival, Dmitri Hvorostovsky and mezzo-soprano Dolora Zajick, a gypsy with a troubled past, are apart of the cast.

Marco Armiliato conducts Sir David McVicar’s Goya-inspired production.

Other productions scheduled are:

  • Verdi’s “Otello” — Oct. 17, 12:55-4:30 p.m., Ramsdell Theatre, Manistee
  • Wagner’s “Tannhäuser” — Oct. 31, 12:55-3 p.m., Ramsdell Theatre, Manistee
  • Berg’s “Lulu” — 12:55-4:30 p.m., Ramsdell Theatre, Manistee
