Club receives ribbon

Receipt of a ribbon and membership in the 100 percent Club of Michigan Federation of Women’s Clubs was reported by President Alvina Mallison to the Bear Lake Woman’s Club at the December 9 meeting at the home of Mrs. Charles Steck. A letter complimenting the club on the mushroom plaque favors made for the Great Lakes Conference was received from Northwest District President, Mrs. John Mizerek.

Store to close for “Sing”

Stores on River Street will be open Wednesday night until shortly before 8 p.m. when they will close for the massed Christmas “Sing” at the triangle where River and Water streets meet. Merchants are making special arrangements so that their employees who are scheduled to participate in carol singing before 8 p.m. will be given time from their jobs to do so.

80 YEARS AGO

New Washington School accepted

Resolutions acknowledging the acceptance of the new Washington School from the contractor, Anderson Construction Co., were passed at the Board of Education meeting last evening and also a resolution asking that an extension of time be allowed the contractor for delays encountered during the construction of the building.

Large crowd

The high school P.T.A. last evening was attended by a large number of persons. An interesting program, featuring three one-act plays by Eighth graders was presented.
