MAPS may face cutbacks

Manistee Area Public Schools may operate with less teachers next year. The school district expects to lose 79 students to Lake Bluff Academy, Superintendent John Kuenzli announced at the school board meeting Thursday evening. While state aid hasn’t been determined yet, Kuenzli anticipates receiving about $4,838 per students. Multiply that with the 79 students lost, and the figure is $382,202.

Easter party

A total of 115 children attended an Easter party on Saturday at the Farr Center sponsored by the Onekama School Boosters. Featured were films, prizes and treats. Tim and Byron Joseph also led a sing­a­long.

Will honor Dahlgren

The presentation of a plaque honoring the memory of the late Albert J. Dahlgren, who served as Manistee County Superintendent of Schools from 1926 to 1953, featured this morning’s meeting of the Manistee County Board of Supervisors as they continued their April session. A.E. Vanzo, superintendent of county schools, and successor to the late Mr. Dahlgren, made the presentation to the supervisors and explained that the impressive bronze plaque was purchased through voluntary contributions from
