City Hall may get makeover

Manistee City Hall, particularly council chambers, may get a major makeover in the next year or so. The renovations are intended to place the building in compliance with the American Disabilities Act. Currently, physically challenged visitors can only access the first floor of the building. No barrier free access exists in the council chambers.

Rengo is officer

Raymond Rengo attended a meeting of the Michigan Petroleum Association held in Grand Rapids last week where he was elected President for the coming year.

80 YEARS AGO

Hendel is new president

Following the regular meeting of the Rotary Club last night at Hotel Chippewa, Bert Hendel, active worker in the Rotary, was elected incoming president to take office July 1 at the expiration of the term of Dr. Tom Maxwell.

Spare time employment

Spare time employment for Manistee women, who do embroidery work is being offered by the Manistee Garment Co. To date 91 women are engaged in this work and it is desired that this number be increased by 200. The work is strictly spare time employment to be done in those hours free from houseful or social duties.
