NPO announces medical director appointments

TRAVERSE CITY — Northern Physicians Organization (NPO) announced the appointment of its medical directors — physicians providing leadership and support to NPO physician members.

Joel Anhalt is a family practice physician practicing in the Manistee area for over 12 years. His practice is located in Arcadia.

He received a B.S. from Grand Valley State University and his Doctor of Osteopathy from Michigan State University. His residency was in Family Practice at William Beaumont Hospital in Troy.

Gail Gwizdala is an internist practicing at Thirlby Clinic in Traverse City for the past 23 years after having been at Henry Ford Hospital as physician in charge of the Southfield office.

She received a PhB from Montieth College as well as a B.S. in Biology at Wayne State University. Her doctorate was from Wayne State University School of Medicine and residency training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

Melanie Manary is an internist/geriatrician practicing in Petoskey for over 25 years. She is a partner in Internal Medicine of Northern Michigan.

She received a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University in public health, an M.D. from Wayne State University and a M.B.A. from University of Michigan. Her internal medicine training was at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

Northern Physicians Organization (NPO) is a physician-led group aligning doctors’ processes, communications, best practices and ideas to enhance the physician/patient partnership so that the overall health of the Northern Michigan’s community is maximized.
