Auditions for ‘Mary Poppins’ Tuesday, Wednesday

MANISTEE — Director Ingrid Bond is looking to cast people of all ages to take part in the Manistee Civic Players’ production of “Mary Poppins.”

Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Ramsdell Theatre.

No preparation is necessary but those auditioning will be asked to read from the script, move and sing a group song. Comfortable clothing is suggested.

Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, “Mary Poppins” has received nominations for nine Olivier and seven Tony awards, including Best Musical.

Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins’ arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family how to value each other again.

“Mary Poppins” will come to the Ramsdell stage at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 5, 6, 12 and 13 and at 2 p.m. on Aug. 7 and 14.
