Portage Lake Association Monday Night Concert series returns Monday

ONEKAMA — The Portage Lake Association Monday Night Concert in the Park series returns at 7 p.m. on Monday with Pico and Chown, featuring Miriam Pico and David Chown, two of Traverse City’s favorite musicians.

Pico will treat attendees with a vintage vocal style, such as those of Ella Fitzgerald or Norah Jones, while Chown plays the classics on piano sending audiences back to an age of glittering ballrooms, tailcoat tuxedos and flowing champagne.

Pico and Chown have been performing together since 2007, breathing new life into old standards, adding new twists on pop, rock and blues songs, and rocking out on Pico’s originals.

The concerts are held in Onekama’s Village Park, on M-22, next to Papa J’s Ice Cream shop and across from Lakeside Treats. All concerts are free and open to the public.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic with the whole family. In case of rain, the concert will be held at the Onekama Community School. For more information, check the Onekama.info website, or the Portage Lake Association Facebook page.
