White Pine Village hosting music festival and corn roast Aug. 2

LUDINGTON — The Mason County Historical Society hosts the first Americana-Roots Music Festival and Corn Roast on Aug. 2 at the Historic White Pine Village, located at 1687 South Lakeshore Drive in Ludington.

The festival, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., will feature live music and self-guided tours of historic buildings, among other things for the admission price. Children five years old and younger will be admitted for free.

The fee includes the music throughout the day, admission to the village and one trip through the food line. The meal includes fresh roasted corn on the cob, a bratwurst or hot dog, chips, cookie and a beverage.

The corn roast will be from 4-7 p.m.

The performance schedule is as follows:

  • 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. — Song Chasers Suzanne and Jim. Having performed in the U.S., Canada and Europe, the husband and wife duo blend of traditional and historic music, featuring banjo, guitars, flute, autoharp and more.
  • 1 p.m. — Open Mic. Musicians are free to play short sets of family-friendly music within Americana, roots, folk and light jazz genres.
  • 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. — Ruthie Eilers leads musical chairs and children’s sing-along. This activity is recommended for children ages 4 and older.
  • 2:30 p.m. — Local musician Mike Lenich plays a variety of folk, Americana, ’60’s/70’s rock, sing-alongs and original instrumentals on guitar, clawhammer banjo, mandolin and ukulele.
  • 3:30 p.m. — Chloe and Olivia Kimes offer a soulful mix of folk and blues melodies and music mixing country, bluegrass and Americana.
  • 5 p.m. — Ludington trio Third Coast Djypsy Jazz specializes in the French gypsy jazz style popularized by legendary jazzman Django Reinhardt. The trio features Steve and Kaedin Plummer on guitar and Jason “Harvey” Hargraves on bass.
  • 6 p.m.— Shoreliners, a southern-gospel quartet from Ludington, perform across West Michigan, delivering the best in close, four-part harmonies from the best of spirituals and Gospel songs.
  • 7 p.m. — Oceana Drive Band plays blues, rock and Americana music.
  • 8 p.m. — Full Chord, performing country, bluegrass, big band and pop music
