Onekama plans celebration

The Onekama Lions Club is hoping the cool weather will hold up for its 23rd Annual Onekama Days at the Manistee County Fairgrounds Aug. 1 through Aug. 4. The celebration is filled with long-time favorite events such as the hospitality tent, softball tournaments, the parade and fireworks.

40 YEARS AGO

Arcadia Park Commission

The Arcadia Park Commission was organized and elected Henry Behrens as president, Mrs. Lola White as treasurer, Roger Muldavin as secretary, George Bader and William Lehto as trustees and Ben White ex officio.

80 YEARS AGO

Loomis’ approval delayed

No action has as yet been taken by the state emergency relief commission in approving the name of Dewey Loomis, Wellston, as a member of the local relief commission, and no action will be taken until the next meeting of the commission.

Many without plates

A long wait in line for the purchase of automobile license plates for the last half of the year is inevitable for many Manistee County motorists as a check at the branch office of the Secretary of State this morning at the Board of Commerce which showed that 1,350 motorists in this county are still driving with 1935 plates and stickers.
