Oaks prepares for reaccreditation process

The Oaks Correctional Facility is currently preparing for a series of inspections, including one from the American Corrections Association, as part of a reaccreditation process. The first inspection will be Aug. 5 when the Department of Corrections will be going through the facility.

Bottrell firm granted franchise

Robert Bottrell Sr., of Bottrell’s Sales and Service Inc., has been notified that his firm has been granted the Chrysler-Dodge franchise for this district. The Bottrell firm has been at its present location in Parkdale for the past nine years and is pleased to add this new line to its present dealership.

60 YEARS AGO

Bridge traffic to be halted

The Maple Street Bridge, its appearance being improved with two coats of paint, will have its spans raised tomorrow morning to allow the painters to paint the counter-balances. As a result, City Manager James Burch reminded today that all traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian, will not be able to cross the bridge from about 8:10 a.m. to about 11:30 a.m. tomorrow when the spans will again be closed to prevent a conflict with the heavy noon traffic.
