LUDINGTON — Manistee swimming split with Ludington and Muskegon Mona Shores on Tuesday in a double-dual meet.

The Chippewas fell to the Sailors 109-70 but defeated the Orioles 93-89 while being led by another strong performance by Kiara Bromley.

“Some of the young kids had some pretty good swims and some of the older ones swam in the relays tonight, which is what we’re going to do for later,” Manistee coach Corey Van Fleet said. “We’re in a situation where we don’t have a lot of kids, but the ones we do have are doing well.”

Bromley led the team by winning the 200-yard freestyle at 2:10.45 and the 100-yard butterfly 1:05.44.

Anna Lee also had a good day by winning the 200-yard IM at 2:34.37 and she was also second in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:07.72.

Other standouts in the individual events were Haley Harland who finished third in the 50-yard freestyle at 28.45, Gabby Applegarth finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle at 28.58 and second in the 500-yard freestyle at 6:13.83, Madison Miller was third in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:00.87 and third in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:25.08, Hayley Anderson was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:04.63 and Kate Abbey was fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:30.10.

Van Fleet was also impressed with his diver, Amber Miller, who finished in fifth but is diving for her first season. She scored a respectable 133.40.

“Amber scored 130 points tonight, which is a nice score. It was a good performance to start with,” he said.

In the relays the 200-yard medley relay team with Lee, Applegarth, Abbey and Harland finished third at 2:13.31, the 200-yard freestyle relay with Harland, Miller, Bromley and Jaelyn Thomas finished second at 1:52.89 and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Applegarth, Bromley, Harland and Thomas finished in second at 4:11.52.
