MCC graduate recognized by Army

FORT EUSTIS, Va. — Donald Meyers, a 1981 graduate of Manistee Catholic Central, was awarded the Superior Civilian Service Award at a ceremony on July 8 at Fort Eustis, Va.

The son of Robert and Elaine Meyers, formerly of Manistee, Don Meyers entered the Army in 1982 and retired at a First Sergeant (E8) in 2003 after 22 years.

Since retirement from the Army Band program, Meyers has worked as a government civilian for the Army deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan six times serving as an accelerated capabilities integrator.

Meyers was recognized for being the lead for execution of multiple prototype experiments across the United States over the past two years. He works at the Army Capabilities Integration Center in Fort Eustis, Va., and has over 33 years of combined federal service.

Meyers lives in Chesapeake, Va., with his wife Wenda, who also is an Army veteran of 20 years.
