Local girls plan workshop

Lisa Gallagher, Carol Spoor, Mrs. Barnett and Miss Krahe recently planned a workshop for the Future Homemakers of America. Lisa, the state vice-president of Onekama and Carol, the state vice president of degrees of Brethren met with their advisors (Barnett and Krahe) to plan the workshop. The theme of the workshop was Climb, Seek, and Discover, dealing with the qualities of leadership.

Large crowd welcomes Santa

Santa Claus paid his annual pre-Christmas visit to Manistee last night and was welcomed by one of the largest crowds ever to gather for the popular parade and distribution of treats at the community Christmas tree lighting at the Hotel Chippewa triangle.

Get their bucks

End of the season success was experienced by William and Ralph Ringel, each of whom bagged at an 11 point buck over the weekend. Another lucky hunter who got his deer, a six pointer, before the deadline was Paul Sommerfeldt.

“Mail early” is holiday plea

Anticipating the greatest volume of Christmas mailing in years, local postal authorities urge that serious consideration be given their plea to “mail early and often.” Not only are patrons asked to mail their packages early in order to avoid the usual last-minute rush at Christmas time but they are also asked to mail their packages and letters early in the day and not wait until the last few minutes before the window is closed.
