West Shore Bank announces new art exhibit at Frankfort office

FRANKFORT — West Shore Bank’s Frankfort office will display a special collection of artwork by Julie Pflanzer at its Frankfort office beginning today.

The public is invited to a special “Meet the Artist” reception from 3-5 p.m. on Friday at the West Shore Bank Frankfort Office. The exhibit will be on display through Sept. 13.

Pflanzer’s work includes bright, colorful, macro flowers, a few still life paintings along with land and seascapes.

Pflanzer has an unusual story behind her creative journey. After spending a childhood drawing, painting and sculpting, she was told by a university art instructor she should abandon her dreams of becoming an artist. She graduated college with a degree in recreation therapy and worked in mental health, instead.

Pflanzer found art was good relaxation therapy for her patients, and eventually, she had a “just do it moment,” and she returned to art. She now paints in many mediums; her favorites being oil and watercolors. Her recent interests include drawing the human figure, portraits, murals, surreal paintings and illustrative paintings.

West Shore Bank is located at 501 Main St. in Frankfort. The exhibit is free of charge. For additional information, call (231) 352-9655.
