WSCC student nurses host Community Health Fair

MANISTEE TWP. — The graduating student nurses of West Shore Community College (WSCC) held their annual Community Health Fair on Wednesday at the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians’ (LRBOI) upcoming Next Generation Learning Center.

This year’s fair was a collaboration between WSCC, the LRBOI, Northwest Michigan Health Services and the District Health Department No. 10.

The event offered numerous informational booths on topics ranging from blood glucose monitoring, diabetes, suicide prevention, immunizations, skin cancer awareness, car seat safety, memory aids, blood pressure and more.

Children ages 3 to 5 also had the opportunity to receive free vision and hearing screenings provided by the District Health Department while Northwest Michigan Health Services provided free dental screenings to all ages during the event.
