Focus on Life benefit dinner slated for April 28

MANISTEE — Right to Life of Manistee County will host its annual Focus on Life benefit dinner on April 28 at the St. Joseph Parish Hall, located at 249 Sixth St. in Manistee.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the dinner and program slated to start at 6:45 p.m.

This year’s featured speaker is Rebecca Kiessling, who was conceived in rape and targeted for abortion.

As a child of a brutal assault, Kiessling puts a face, a voice and a story to the issue of exceptions to abortion. She makes the case that all human life deserves protection.

Kiessling serves as president of Save The 1, an international organization of individuals conceived from rape and mothers who became pregnant by rape, as well as those representing other “hard cases.”

As an international speaker and frequent guest on numerous national media programs, Kiessling’s life and testimony have impacted how people think about abortion in cases of rape.  A mother of five and practicing attorney, she lives with her husband in Rochester Hills.

Recently, while Kiessling was on a speaking tour in Poland, four of the country’s universities were pressured by protesters to either cancel or relocate her scheduled events. Without the free speech security she’s used to in the states, Kiessling said the protesters in Poland actually helped her message gain attention through the ensuing media coverage.

Manistee’s event will be catered by Jerry Zupin.
