Good morning Manistee County! We have a busy week coming up and I am looking forward to some fun and excitement. If you are looking for something to do Sunday, we have a potluck at 1 p.m. down at the Senior Center.

This is a great time to visit with your friends and enjoy some food, fun and fellowship. There is always great food, so bring a dish to pass and share in the fun.

Monday, we have Sheriff John O’Hagan coming in for Police Talk. This is such an informative program. John always has great subjects to discuss and he knows a lot about what is going on in our county.

Tuesday is our Spring Fling at the VFW. Jerry Zupin is cooking for us and Butch Baker and the Just 4 Fun band is entertaining. Stop down on Monday if you still need tickets.

Wednesday is fun bingo in Manistee. This is always so much fun.

Thursday, we have an appreciation luncheon for our great volunteers, AARP Driving Course and the Matter of Balance class. Friday, we have the second half of the AARP Driving class. There are a lot more activities and programs going on this week, so check out the weekly calendar in this article. I hope you find something you would like to try.

Last week was a little tricky with all of the construction going on downtown. Thanks to the guys at the city, we didn’t skip a beat. They performed their magic and we could stay open and the kitchen could still prepare meals. So a huge thank you goes to the guys at the water department. We all really appreciate you.

We had the guys in for Toe Tapping Tuesday and they sounded great. I was working on a couple of reports in my room, but I could hear everyone singing along to the wonderful music. Thank you, Don, Dan, Dave and Bob. You are great to give your time and talents to the seniors and the Senior Center.

Wednesday we celebrated April birthdays with a beautiful cake donated by Meijer. We also had a couple bring in two delicious real carrot cakes to celebrate their 35 anniversary with everyone. Thank you to Rosemary and Ken Hesch and happy anniversary.

Friday was our food bank and it is amazing how many seniors come in to participate. I want to thank everyone who donates food and funds to this important program. It really makes a difference in many people’s lives.

A couple of things that are coming up in May are the May Mystery Trip and Wheelin’ & Dealin’ with Johnny O. We are also planning a fun trip to the June Tigers game which is already over half full. So, make sure you keep looking for the dates for these fun and exciting activities. If you have any questions, make sure you give the Senior Center a call at (231) 723-6477.

We want to wish Faye Keyes a very happy birthday this week. If you see here rolling around town or out and about, please wish her a happy birthday.

I hope you have a wonderful week and remember to try something new!

The Senior Center Food Bank takes place from 9-11 a.m. on the third Friday of the month. Seniors from Manistee County who are 60 years of age and older are eligible to participate. The next food bank will be May 19.
