Energy assistance funds available at Salvation Army

MANISTEE — In observance of National Salvation Army Week, the local chapter — located at 471 Water St. via the Spruce Street entrance — is reminding those in need of its energy assistance services.

“Right now through May 30, we can take applications for propane, deliverable fuel, wood, fuel oil, payment assistance,” said local case worker Tim Danielson. “I do still have a limited amount of funding available for electricity assistance and I have a very limited amount of assistance for water and sewer bills left.”

“I’m pretty much one of the last games in town left,” he added. “Other agencies have run out of that funding.”

Danielson said those seeking assistance should first call the local office at (231) 723-6243.

“I can take up to four appointments a day, and the client will find out the day of if we can help.” he said. “Our goal is to help clients get to the point of self-sustainability.”
