ONEKAMA — The concert committee of the Portage Lake Association has announced its Summer 2017 lineup for the popular Monday Night Concerts in the Park.
For many years these concerts have featured a wide range of music from local favorite performers to rising stars on the Michigan music scene. This family-friendly series will begin on June 26 and continue through Aug. 14.
All concerts begin at 7 p.m. in the Onekama Village Park on M-22. There is no charge to attend, but donations are welcome and encouraged. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnic baskets, children, etc.
This summer’s schedule will feature:
June 26: Blue Water Ramblers — Toe-tapping traditional tunes from finest local folk
July 3: Shrock Brothers Band, featuring Peter Madcat Ruth — Blues/jazz quartet, featuring Grammy-winner on harmonica
July 10: Rough and Tumble — Americana-folk duo for the faint of heart/strong of will
July 17: Gratitude Steel Band — Jamaican Steel drum band plays reggae, calypso, Motown
July 24: Awesome Distraction — Acoustic sound with beautifully blended voices
July 31: Benzie Playboys — The best in authentic Cajun music that will have one clapping and dancing in the grass
Aug. 7: Jim Hawley’s 70’s Show — Pure rock & roll from a rocker whose voice stirs the soul
Aug. 14: Scottville Clown Band — Millions of smiles and great music from the famous Clown Band
