What a week! It has been really busy at the Senior Center, but it is always a lot of fun. Everyone seems to be enjoying the activities and programs we have going on and I am so glad we have so many people participating in everything.

Monday, we had a nice group of seniors come in and exercise with the Walk with Ease program, which is every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The instructor does some stretching with the group before they walk on the Riverwalk and they all discuss some information about walking before they get moving.

Tuesday, we had our Toe Tapping with the best guys around, come in and show your support for the 3Ds. We also had our free attorney services with Michael Herring who is so helpful and kind. Thanks, Michael, for everything you do for all of the seniors in Manistee County.

Wednesday, we had Fun Bingo and the foot clinic, which keeps everyone on their toes. (Ha-ha).

Thursday, the girls did the second Matter of Balance class. What a nice group of seniors. Matter of Balance is eight weeks of classes and you learn a lot about how to change the way you think when it comes to balance.

On Friday, we had a very relaxing Tai Chi class, the music and the instructions are so quiet and slow. If I listened too much you may find me on the floor in my office sleeping.

Monday, District Health Department #10 will be at the Senior Center to present a program on Lyme disease and its prevention. This should be a really interesting and informative program. It is free and open to the public.

We are getting ready for our “Grandma & Me Afternoon Tea” which is at 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 21. We hope you will bring one or more children and join us for some fun. Please call the Senior Center to let us know who is coming so we have enough seats.

We are also getting ready for Brats and Bingo at the Farr Center in Onekama which is on Sept. 30. There will be a bus from the Senior Center to Onekama, but you need to call and sign up for this event. We only have a couple of seats left on the Mystery trip, so don’t wait too long, seats will be gone before you know it.

This week we will have a lot happening. Some of the things that may be fun to join in on are Fun Bingo on Wednesday; there will be a birthday cake to celebrate the August birthdays; our photography group on Thursday afternoon, or the Walk with Ease program.

I want to wish some special friends good thoughts for speedy recoveries and let them know we sure do love and miss them. Our sweet Irene, who is 96 and always participates in everything, is under the weather; and sweet Bob B. We miss your smile and your mischievous laugh. Love you both, take care and know we are thinking about you.

Come on, give the Senior Center a chance, and remember to try something new!
