COPEMISH — The Copemish Area Historical Society started the annual 5K race awards ceremony on Aug. 6, by recognizing Terry Beckelic, a frequent Copemish race participant. Terry passed away just days before this year’s race.

The race is part of Copemish Heritage Days.

Dale Moody, Terry’s friend, ran the race in Terry’s honor and wore Terry’s racing shoe shoelace in his own shoe. Dale will deliver a medal that was presented in Terry’s honor to Terry’s wife, Rosie, a longtime sponsor of the race.

In the 5K walk category, Pam Doneth, with a 49:23 and Phil Sedlar, with a 41:42 were the overall Winners.

In the 5K run Category, Julie Modjeski with a 23:58 and Asa Kelly with a 17:47 were the overall Winners.

The Copemish Area Historical Society organizes this race as a fundraiser for the upkeep on the 150-year old schoolhouse that is used as their museum.
