Benzie Fishing Frenzy starts Aug. 25

FRANKFORT — The Benzie Fishing Frenzy Tournament, the second largest salmon fishing event on the Tournament Trail is just around the corner.

The tournament begins Aug. 25 with the Ladies Classic, then proceeds through the weekend of Aug. 26 and 27 with the Pro and Amateur Divisions.

Mineral Springs Park in downtown Frankfort is one of the only places in Northern Michigan where people will potentially see over 1,200 salmon and trout being weighed as these competitors try to win the longest and heaviest Fish. Weigh-ins begin just after noon each day under the pavilion.

The event is sponsored by Frankfort-Elberta Chamber of Commerce, Benzie County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Curtis Insurance Agency, Dinghy’s Restaurant & Bar, Graceland Fruit, Harbor Lights Resort, State Savings Bank, MacDonald Marine, Blarney Castle Oil & Propane, Wolverine Tackle, Art’s Tavern, Port City Smokehouse, Cabbage Shed, The Hotel Frankfort, Family Fare and Dreamweaver & Warrior Lures

Anyone can register to be part of this tournament and it isn’t necessary to be a professional fisherman.
