MANISTEE — Manistee’s girls golf team put forth another strong outing against Fremont at home on Tuesday.

The Chippewas shot an 18-hole team score of 434 to the Packers’ 608 at the Manistee Golf and Country Club.

“We did pretty well. I was happy with how we finished,” Manistee coach Bridget Warnke said.

Tiffany Elo led the way for the Chippewas with a 102, Katie Huber had a 105, Sara Thompson carded a 112 and Lily Sandstedt rounded out the scorers with a 115.

“Tiffany and Katie both didn’t have great days, but what was nice that Sara and Lilly picked up where we needed them to,” Warnke said.

The match was the team’s second 18-hole event of the season and they were able to cut off nine strokes from the team score last week. A big part of the team’s improvement has been due in part to Thompson and Sandstedt improving their games.

“Lily again cut strokes off and with Sara, I think the 112 is actually her best 18 holes. She still didn’t feel 100 percent about where she was at, but she’s happy with how she finished. She had a rough start, but she finished strong on the front,” Warnke said.

“She (Sandstedt) is new to the game, but she works hard and she’s impressing me.”

Manistee’s Marial Rahn didn’t score for the team, but she shot a career-low 145, which is an improvement for the new golfer.

The Chippewas will be back on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at Whitehall.
