PENNY KIMMEY: Traveler impressed with service at local restaurant

TO THE EDITOR:

This is a short note from a traveler who was traveling through your beautiful community.

My husband and l stopped at the Bungalow Inn for breakfast. The wait-staff, first to last, were gracious and the food was reasonably priced, very well presented, and especially tasty.

Upon finishing my meal, l carefully cleaned my table area and neatly stacked the dishes including my own favorite thermal mug at the edge of the table, only to walk off without it.

After traveling a good distance, l realized my mug had been left behind. l decided to call the Bungalow Inn and see if they could help me reunite with the mug. After a very short conversation, Lora Loyd shared that she would be happy to help. She packaged the mug, made a special trip to the post office, personally paid for the shipping fee, and sent the mug on its way to me.

She did this without any guarantee of reimbursement for the expense other than a verbal agreement or without regard for her inconvenience. It was a goodwill gesture extraordinaire.

My mug arrived safely yesterday, clean, undamaged and in remarkable time. l’m so impressed by the fabulous service the Bungalow Inn in general, and Lora specifically, provided to my husband and me, virtually unknown travelers hailing from an island near the Straits of Mackinac.

We have already shared this story with many of our friends and l hope that, as editor, you may find a way for the Manistee community to also share in the good feeling we have about some very special members of your community. We hope to return for a visit next summer,.
