Mobile mammography unit at Meijer Monday

MANISTEE — Spectrum Health Betty Ford Breast Care Services will offer breast cancer screening through its full-service mobile mammography unit at Manistee Meijer Monday.

And, thanks to Spectrum’s long standing relationship with Meijer, its has co-launched a new mobile unit to provide breast cancer screenings to customers and employees at Meijer locations throughout the communities it serves.

The unit will be at Manistee Meijer from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 11.

The unit travels throughout the state to serve a variety of patients, including women who may not have access to mammograms.

The Betty Ford Breast Care Services mobile unit is a 45-foot clinic on wheels that uses state-of-the-art digital technology. Both mobile mammography units utilize the same 2D/3D (tomosynthesis) digital technology as the other 14 Betty Ford Breast Care Services sites. Patients will be welcomed in a comfortable registration and waiting area. After registering, patients will use a private dressing room before receiving their mammogram.

Only a limited number of patients a day can be seen each day, so be sure to make an appointment. Walk-ins will be provided as scheduling allows.

Please bring insurance information.

Free mammograms will be available for uninsured or under-insured women. Call (616) 486-6022 to see if you qualify.

The mobile unit will return to the Manistee store during the same hours on Dec. 7. It will be at the Ludington Meijer from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 6.
