Man identified after deadly rollover crash on Sunday

STRONACH TWP. — A man who died after a single-car crash on Sunday morning in Manistee County has been identified.

Darby Nummerdor, 23, of Manistee, was identified as the victim of the deadly crash by Lois Goslinoski, Manistee County medical examiner. Manistee County Sheriff John O’Hagan said the autopsy and toxicology reports are still pending.

“We have nothing further to release at this time,” O’Hagan said, in a press release on Wednesday.

On Sunday, the Manistee County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of a vehicle fire. At approximately 8:03 a.m. on Sunday, a passerby located a vehicle on Stronach Road near Steinberg Road in Stronach Township with smoke coming from the engine area.

The passerby attempted to rescue Nummerdor from the 2007 Ford Taurus, however, the doors would not open. Shortly after, a firefighter arrived on the scene and attempted to break the window but was unsuccessful.

Within four minutes of the 911 call, deputies arrived on scene to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

Preliminary results from the investigation indicate the vehicle was involved in a rollover crash prior to the fire, according to police. The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Michigan State Police, Stronach Township Fire Department and Munson EMS.
