MANISTEE — Members of the Manistee Area Chamber of Commerce, Chamber Ambassadors and the Duck Race Committee presented a check on Friday to the Manistee County Child Advocacy Center for $1,500.

Funds were raised during the 2017 Manistee National Forest Festival Duck Race.

The Manistee County Child Advocacy Center partnered with the Chamber Ambassadors to assist with selling the raffle tickets in return for a portion of the funds to be donated to their organization to aid in their efforts to providing a range of services to help children and families.

“We provide forensic interviews on children ages 3 to 17 for those that have allegations of child sexual abuse,” said Smith. “We get referrals from any local law enforcement agencies or Child Protective Services. We have specialized forensic interviewers (who are able to talk with kids).”

The center also provides counseling, family support, group therapy sessions and prevention services and training.

“The donation will help our child victims and families going through the process, and help them to heal and get the help that they need to get back in a healthy family,” said Smith.
