Oliver Art Center hosts fall events

FRANKFORT — Summer may be at an end, but that does not mean that there isn’t a lot going on at OAC.

In partnership with Stormcloud Brewing Co. and Frankfort Beer Week, OAC will host “Pint a Picture” on at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 11. Join OAC’s associate director, Brian Iler, for an eve of abstract painting and absorbing beer in the Stormcloud Brewery. With a brush in one hand, and a pint in the other, participants will create their own unique masterpiece with lots of tips on technique, composition and imbibition.

All supplies included, no experience necessary, and registration is at www.oliverartcenterfrankfort.org under Other Classes.

Celebrate Northern Michigan by participating in Draw NoMi – locally a collaborative effort with OAC, Benzie Shores Library and Frankfort-Elberta students and regionally with the Dennos Museum, Blackbird Arts, Art Rapids!, Crooked Tree and many more organizations. Stop by the library or OAC and creatively tell your favorite memories of NoMi. These are then contributed to the ongoing art installation at OAC which will be on display for the entire month of October.

OAC is hosting an opening for the student work on display from 4-6 p.m. on Oct. 10.

Celebrate OAC’s newest exhibition with a free opening reception from 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 20. Three Traverse City area artists, Delbert Michel, Bart and Gail Ingraham will showcase their talents that include painting, sculpture and fiber art. Want to know more? Then attend a free artist talk at 1 p.m. on Oct. 21.

Finally, Oct. 26 is OAC’s annual fall read from 5:30-7:30 p.m. An annual event, the read is open to the public and free to attend. Last year’s event was greatly attended and enjoyed by all who read and listened.

The Oliver Art Center exhibits and Gift Gallery are open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays Please visit www.oliverartcenterfrankfort.org or contact (231) 352-4151 for more information.
