Chip varsity girls fall

The Manistee High School Chippewas Varsity Girls basketball team fell to Fremont last night 47-40. Krista Sundbeck was the leading scorer for the Chips, scoring 16 points, and adding six steals.

Tape deck stolen

A FM 8-track tape deck was stolen from a car parked in a driveway Manistee City Police said this morning. Police said the tape deck, valued at $100 was taken sometime early Saturday from a car owned by Richard Reed on Third Avenue. The car was parked in the driveway at Reed’s residence.

60 YEARS AGO

Bear Lake School adds course

A new course in girls’ physical education is being offered at the school this year with Mr. Nelson in charge of the program. 43 girls in grades 9-12 are enrolled. The class meets twice a week. Calisthenics, softball and tumbling are being offered. Square dance sessions are being combined with the boys’ physical education class.
