Post Offices to be closed Nov. 11 for Veteran’s Day

GRAND RAPIDS — On Saturday, the U.S. Postal Service will observe Veteran’s Day which is a federal holiday.

Post Offices in the Greater Michigan District (Zip Code prefixes beginning with 486 – 491 and 493-499) will be closed and there will be no mail delivery or retail service on this day.

Normal Friday service will be provided in delivery and collections operations. Customers are encouraged to still drop their mail in blue street collection boxes, so they can be processed early the next business day.

“We advise anyone with stamped or metered mail ready for delivery to deposit it early in the day into a blue collection box,” said Postal Service Spokesperson Sabrina Todd. “This also applies to business customers that are open during the holiday.”

Residents can also call their local Post Office (or 1-800-ASK-USPS/1-800-275-8777) to obtain hours of operation information. Post Offices will reopen for business on Nov. 13.
